Boulder County residents are invited to tune in to a virtual public meeting to deliberate on proposed amendments to the Land Use Code regarding residential uses. According to Boulder County, this specifically pertains to the classifications around Group Care or Foster Homes and Boarding Houses. The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 16, and will run from 5:30-6:30 p.m.
The online event is open to all unincorporated Boulder County residents who are keen to engage with housing issues, or those interested in the proposed updates. Attendees must register to participate, but can effortlessly do so at any moment, even after the meeting has begun. Boulder County Community Planning & Permitting will start the session with a presentation to overview the current legislative text, and the amendment process, and to hear from the community on the proposed changes. A recording of the meeting will be made available on the Community Planning & Permitting YouTube channel for those who cannot attend live.
The focus is on updating the Land Use Code sections that govern boarding houses and group care or foster home arrangements, along with any corresponding articles and provisions. Community Planning & Permitting staff will provide detailed insights into the purpose of the project, what the current code stipulates, and the anticipated roadmap for the amendments. The meeting will also offer a chance for residents to pose questions and offer preliminary feedback on the matter.
The updates under consideration apply exclusively to the unincorporated regions of Boulder County, outside of its established cities and towns. As a next step, focus groups are expected to convene at January's end, aligning with the project still being in its conceptual phase, and formal public commentary remains on the horizon. For additional information and updates regarding DC-24-0004 and other relevant amendments, stakeholders are encouraged to visit the project's docket page or to sign up for notifications.
