A Boulder man has been sentenced to 188 months in federal prison for transporting a minor across state lines to engage in sexually explicit conduct, the United States Attorney's Office for the District of Colorado reported. 54-year-old James Wendell Dean pled guilty to one count of the offense.

United States Attorney Matt Kirsch made it clear that justice for such heinous acts remains a critical mission of the legal system. "Crimes against children are the most despicable in our society," Kirsch stated, as obtained by the U.S. Department of Justice. "Our office will aggressively prosecute anyone who harms a minor." His words echo a community and a nation's condemnation of crimes that gut the sanctity of childhood.

The FBI, tasked with the relentless undertakings to protect the most vulnerable among us, has put forth its stance through the words of FBI Denver Special Agent in Charge Mark Michalek. "This sentence serves as a reminder that protecting children from predators is a top priority for the FBI," Michalek said, as per the U.S. Department of Justice.

President over the sentencing was United States District Court Judge Daniel D. Domenico. The weighty task of steering through the legal procedures fell upon Assistant United States Attorney Alison Connaughty, who handled the prosecution.
