The blaze, which started around 3:45 a.m., engulfed the basement and first floor of the 289 Corey Rd structure, a 4-story edifice comprising 8 residential units. As firefighters tackled the flames, no injuries were reported among the building's residents or the responding emergency personnel.
Although no one was physically harmed, the fire caused significant disruption, displacing 13 residents who now face the challenge of rebuilding. The Boston Fire Department's official X account reported damages of $250,000. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
