
A Brooksville man faces multiple charges after Hernando County Sheriff's Office detectives concluded a six-month narcotics investigation that led to his arrest. The operation ended with a raid on a Brooksville home, where authorities reported finding over 10 ounces of marijuana and nearly five grams of cocaine.
According to a press release from the Hernando County Sheriff's Office, the search warrant was executed on Wednesday, at 712 Hazel Ave., a residence that falls troublingly close, within 1,000 feet, of a place of worship. The target of the investigation, Brian Lamar Haygood, born on March 27, 1981, was arrested following the seizure of illegal substances from the property.
Haygood is currently facing several charges that include two counts of possession with the intent to sell within 1,000 feet of a worship center, two counts related to the unlawful use of a two-way communication device, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of cocaine. Held initially on a $31,000 bond, Haygood was transported to the Hernando County Detention Center.
Demonstrating their continuous effort to tackle illegal drug activities, the Hernando County Sheriff's Office vowed to protect the community from the dangers posed by narcotics.
