A 70-year-old man from Butler County is facing serious charges after his girlfriend's overdose death. Sloan Dale Hanson was arrested and is confronted with a third-degree murder charge, in addition to drug-related allegations, following the untimely passing of 55-year-old Kimberly Ray at his residence in October of the previous year.
On the evening of October 9, authorities were summoned to the scene on October Drive, Clearfield Township, after receiving reports of a potential overdose. It is at this residence, owned by Hanson that Ray's life drew to a tragic halt due to drug poisoning. In an unsettling revelation, WPXI reported that Hanson admitted to police how he would make the journey to Clairton to procure heroin for the victim, a routine seen in surveillance footage showing Hanson's 2021 Chevrolet Trax repeatedly traversing Clairton City throughout October.
According to court documents, the state of Ray's health in the days leading up to her death was dire. She had reportedly been immobile, stuck in a chair for several days, unable to walk for the previous week and a half, and hadn't eaten in two days. Audacy also cited that Ray was consuming what could only be described as alarming quantities of heroin — allegedly using 15 bags of the substance every 90 minutes — as her life spiraled down to its heartbreaking conclusion.
He now faces drug possession charges with the intent to manufacture or deliver and involuntary manslaughter, alongside the felony charge of drug delivery resulting in death.
