Authorities report that Carroll County residents are reeling after a series of mailbox explosions rocked the Manchester and Westminster areas over the weekend. According to CBS News Baltimore, the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office took the helm of the investigation following initial reports from the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office of an incident on Traceys Mill Road early Sunday.

The investigation quickly expanded as eight other instances of mailbox vandalism came to light, including Wentz Road in Manchester and Cedar Ridge Road in Westminster. According to details released in a Shore News Network report, these occurrences are believed to have happened from Saturday night into the early hours of yesterday morning. Investigators found evidence pointing to the use of fireworks as the cause of the explosions—no injuries were reported.

The Office of the State Fire Marshal is now publicly appealing to those with information or who might have witnessed suspicious activity in the affected areas to step forward. Similarly, those who have suffered mailbox damage due to explosive devices but have not yet filed a report are encouraged to contact authorities.

Community members are asked to contact the Northeast Regional Arson Tipline at 410-386-3050 with any pertinent information to assist in the investigation.
