The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, alongside Douglas County Animal Law Enforcement, is currently delving into an incident where a dog accidentally consumed poison tablets that were intended for rodents. Sgt. Bryanna Munns conveyed to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office that the inquiry includes estimating the number of tablets that could have been in the package and assessing potential risks to the Tapestry Hills community at large.
Indications from the initial investigation suggest that the incident was an accident resulting from wildlife interaction with the poison, which had been legally placed in a resident's backyard. “This serves as a good reminder to take extra precautions when using rodent poison. Always consider the potential risks to pets, wildlife, and children in your community,” Sgt. Munns advised, as obtained by Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. These comments are part of a broader message urging the community to be more cognizant of how they handle and place poisons meant for pests.
