Residents of Cedar Hill may have seen a new crop of signs popping up around town, heralding a local ordinance aimed at restricting truck traffic in specific zones. The Cedar Hill Police Department took to social media, detailing the three-stage rollout designed to soothe the hum of oversized tires on neighborhood streets. According to a Facebook post by the Cedar Hill Police Department, the first phase focuses on raising awareness, with the next stage set to school drivers further through warnings.
During stage 1, which is currently underway, the city's efforts are concentrated on installing the new signs and trying to "educate the public and our truck drivers on the ordinance," as per the Cedar Hill Police Department's statement. Stage 2 will kick in post the completion of the signage setup, initiating at least 30 days where officers, while conducting their watches, will be issuing warnings to the truck drivers that are expected to last.
This new regulation is a municipal response to concerns over the considerable presence of trucks disrupting the flow and safety of local traffic. The Cedar Hill government has decided, to take the ordinance through a gradual process of assimilation for the community and the drivers alike before the inevitable stage 3 brings with it the full weight of legal enforcement.
