As temperatures are expected to drop in Charlotte County, the Charlotte CARE Center is opening its doors to provide shelter for those in need. The cold snap, forecasted by the National Weather Service for Monday and Tuesday evenings, prompted the center to offer shelter from yesterday until today. The center, formerly known as the Charlotte County Homeless Coalition, is located at 1476 Kenesaw St., Port Charlotte, according to an announcement from the Charlotte County website.
Those seeking shelter must pre-register by calling 941-627-4313. Registrations should be completed before 8 p.m. deadline each evening of operation to secure a spot at the facility.
For more information on the shelter services and registration process, individuals can contact Brian Gleason, the Communications Director for Charlotte County, at 941-661-6415 or via email at [email protected].
