A man has been arrested in Charlotte for a fatal shooting that took place last December, resulting in the death of an 18-year-old, as reported by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Daniel Wheeler, was apprehended on charges connected with the homicide of Jordyn Campbell. A warrant for Wheeler's arrest was issued last Tuesday, following the Dec. 29 incident, WCNC details.
According to police, the shooting occurred at an apartment complex on Nobles Avenue, where responders declared Campbell dead at the scene, and Wheeler is now facing charges including first-degree murder and attempted murder, he made his initial court appearance scheduled at 10 a.m. today. QC News notes that Wheeler's past run-ins with the law involve a series of violent offenses, ranging from vehicle break-ins to armed robbery and assault with intent to kill or inflict serious injury.
Moreover, arrest warrants obtained suggest that Wheeler used a rifle to shoot into a 2016 Ford Fusion with Campbell and a woman inside; the woman survived but the circumstances surrounding her current condition have not been disclosed. He is also charged with discharging a weapon into occupied property according to the documents released, WBTV reported.
