Charlotte residents are experiencing delays in trash collection due to heavy snowfall. Solid Waste Services suspended yesterday's service and plans to resume today as the city recovers from the winter storm.
Before this disruption, the city's observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day had already delayed the collection schedule. Residents who normally have their trash picked up on Tuesday were scheduled for service yesterday. However, they are now instructed to leave their carts out until crews can access them, the City of Charlotte announced on its website.
For residents scheduled for collection yesterday, today, and tomorrow, the service schedule has been adjusted. Wednesday's pickups will now occur on the following day, Thursday, while Thursday's routes are moved to Friday, and Friday's collections are rescheduled for Saturday, according to the City of Charlotte announcement.
The city has called on residents to ensure a smooth and safe collection process under these wintry conditions, setting carts out by 6 a.m. and keeping them in clear, accessible areas, what's more, citizens are asked to clear pathways of snow and ice and consider alternative collection locations if necessary, with updates available through text by sending their service day to 73224, or via the GeoPortal for service day reminders.
