The Cincinnati Police Department has made a second arrest linked to the shooting death of a 19-year-old man last July, marking a potential turn of events in the ongoing investigation. Police took 19-year-old Wakee Amin Swain-Barber into custody yesterday.
According to WLWT, the arrest made by the police's Homicide Unit and the Fugitive Apprehension Squad is part of their probe into the July 20 murder that took place near Vine Street and Galbraith Road in Hartwell. Swain-Barber is believed to have been involved in the murder of Bairon Chaj, who, suffering from several gunshot wounds, was discovered by police on that fateful night. Chaj was taken to UC Medical Center and later succumbed to his injuries.
This case first saw an arrest back in October when 19-year-old Erik Evans was charged in connection with Chaj’s murder. Now, as detailed by FOX 19, Evans is facing allegations of attempting to "commit aggravated robbery," which prosecutors argue led to the shooting. His bond has been set at $1 million, with the next court appearance scheduled for Jan. 13.
