Clark County is preparing for its second annual Día de Reyes celebration, inviting families to gather and observe the holiday's traditions. The event, commemorating the visit of the Three Wise Men to the baby Jesus, will include cultural performances, a variety of activities, and an appearance by the magi, who will distribute surprises to children. Scheduled for Saturday at the county's Government Center, the festivities will begin at 10 a.m. and continue throughout the day.
A large Rosca de Reyes (King's Cake) will be featured at the event, decorated with colorful candied fruits, symbolizing community unity. Attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy the cake and participate in the tradition of searching for hidden figurines, with those who find them receiving a symbolic gesture of good luck.
The event not only highlights cultural traditions but also functions as a resource fair. According to Clark County Manager Kevin Schiller, it provides an opportunity for residents to access important services related to health, education, and government assistance. Various departments and organizations will be present to offer information and support to the community. "This event is not only a celebration of our vibrant culture but also an invaluable opportunity for our residents to access vital resources and connect with the community," Schiller stated in the county's news release.
