The county manager is looking for applicants to fill a vacancy for an elected official on the Community Action Advisory Board (CAAB), specifically for the county's fifth district. The voluntary position has a three-year term that kicks off immediately and runs through December 31, 2027. In addition, incumbents can re-up for two additional terms.
The CAAB is a group of fifteen people who have a say in how local government funds are allocated for things like basic needs, self-sufficiency programs, and housing efforts. They don't just crunch numbers, though—members also advocate for services that support low-income communities, families, and persons at all levels of government. According to Clark County's announcement, the aim is to make recommendations that address local needs.
The announcement explicitly encourages people from all walks of life to throw their hat in the ring, especially if they're from communities of color or places that have been historically oppressed or under-resourced. It's a clear nod towards inclusivity, ensuring that the board's makeup reflects the community it serves.
