The city of Cleveland is mourning the loss of a local talent following a fatal shooting that occurred on Sunday morning. Carlos Banks, a 28-year-old Northeast Ohio rapper, also known by his stage name KashBankx, was found shot multiple times inside an apartment in the Broadway-Slavic Village neighborhood. According to Cleveland Uncovered, the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office has confirmed the victim's identity.
Efforts by the Cleveland Division of Police to probe the incident led them to the scene at the 5115 The Rising apartment complex around 4 a.m., having arrived they found Banks with multiple gunshot wounds. Pronounced dead by Cleveland EMS, no arrests have significantly been made at this time. The police are currently appealing to the public for information that may aid their investigation, as reported by Cleveland 19.
The local community and Banks' fans are left to grapple with the sudden violence that snatched away not just an artist but a person who, as community journalist Jaylyn King, who has interviewed Banks multiple times, pointed out, was "very different than other artists." King, expressing the city's collective heartbreak to Cleveland 19 News, said, "This was more than a rapper, this is a human being."
