Coloradans looking to adorn their vehicles with a touch of personal flair have fresh options to consider. The state has introduced two new specialty license plates that cater to different cultural and vocational pride, the Agricultural Plate and the Chicana/o Pride Plate. As reported by Jefferson County, these designs join an expansive library of more than a hundred and fifty choices already available to state motorists.
The Agricultural Plate is designed for those who take pride in Colorado's farming heritage. It showcases a cow centerpiece and comes emblazoned with the slogan "Feeding the World." Prospective owners of the plate are required to shell out two one-time fees, $25 credited to the Colorado DRIVES vehicle services account and another $25 for the highway users tax fund, on top of the usual DMV fees, as per the announcement on January 29th.
In a similar spirit, the Chicana/o Pride Plate celebrates cultural unity and heritage. It features a bold design with two clasped hands set against a colorful serape backdrop, complete with the "Chicana/o Pride" tagline. Those interested in this plate are asked to make a $50 donation to El Movimiento Sigue. This nonprofit supports youth leadership, ethnic studies, and more, alongside other DMV fees.
Both plates serve as more than mere decorations, they are symbols of identity and community engagement. The new additions reflect Colorado's diverse landscape, a place where the reverence for one's roots and the determination to advance cultural recognition continue to drive visual expressions on the state's highways. For residents wishing to make a strong statement on the roads, these new plates offer a canvas for individuality and a nod to collective values that are distinctly Coloradoan.
