According to the City of Colorado Springs, a public open house is set for January 13 to discuss AnnexCOS, the draft guidelines for city annexations. The session will be held between 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the City Administration Building in Room 102, where community members can peruse materials and express their opinions on the proposed plans.

The AnnexCOS project, borne of the city's 2019 comprehensive plan known as PlanCOS, represents an initiative to assess and refine how Colorado Springs expands through annexations. It aims to create a blueprint for growth that upholds fiscal sustainability and resilience, and at this juncture, residents are being called upon for their input the City of Colorado Springs and Colorado Springs Utilities will present an overview that includes draft goals, policies, and suitability zones for annexation.

"Annexation guidelines are important for city leaders so they can better understand how a city can grow,” Katie Carleo, the City’s Land Use Review Division Manager, explained, as obtained by the City of Colorado Springs. “AnnexCOS is one of the steps the City is taking to plan for future growth. We encourage everyone to attend this open house to learn more and provide feedback on the overview of the proposed guidelines,” she added, emphasizing the importance of community engagement in the process.
