On Christmas Eve of last year, tragedy struck on Sullivant Avenue. An adult pedestrian, whose name remained undisclosed for privacy, became the victim of a hit-and-run accident, suffering severe injuries. According to a media release by the Columbus Police Department, the pedestrian was walking along the south side of the avenue and, upon attempting to cross, was struck by an unidentified, maroon-colored vehicle around 10:30 p.m.
The department's Accident Investigation Unit has handled the case since the incident occurred. The vehicle's driver did not stop to render aid or report the collision; instead, they continued eastbound, their identity still unknown to authorities. Witnesses or anyone with information have been urged to come forward to aid in bringing closure to the incident. The victim, after being rushed to Grant Medical Center, succumbed to their injuries on Sunday at 5:03 pm, as confirmed by an update from the police department.
