
This morning, a suspect died, and two Columbus police officers sustained injuries following a chaotic pursuit that ended near Hilltonia Middle School. According to a WBNS report, the suspect rammed a cruiser around 4:45 a.m. in the 2900 block of Sullivant Avenue.
The chase wove through the Hilltop area, with the suspect leading the officers to the school located at 2345 West Mound St., WBNS, a Columbus news partner, detailed the encounter that resulted in the suspect being transported to Doctors Hospital in critical condition and later pronounced dead at 5:57 a.m. The officers involved were sent to Grant Medical Center and Mount Carmel Franklinton, respectively, in stable condition, as reported by WHIO.
Despite the intensity of the incident, The Columbus Dispatch clarified that there was no exchange of gunfire during the events that unfolded. The sequence ended with a now-deceased suspect, whose identity had not been released, and two apprehensive communities left to make sense of the sudden violence that shook them in the early morning hours.
