The Columbus Division of Police is seeking assistance to further an investigation into a string of felonious assaults that occurred in the Short North district last month. According to their Facebook post, several individuals were suddenly attacked on North High Street near E. 2nd Avenue.
Authorities responded to the scene on December 28, 2024, around 9:00 p.m., after reports of pedestrians being inexplicably "sucker punched." One of the victims was transported to an area hospital with facial injuries. Subsequent analysis of surveillance footage led to 23-year-old Daz'Quan Anderson being charged with two counts of Felonious Assault. Last Friday, detectives issued warrants for additional suspects, Phillip Moore III and Dale Seymore.
The Columbus Division of Police urges other victims and potential witnesses to step forward to aid the prosecution. The police's plea to the public was clear, asking anyone with information about the incident or suspects to contact Detective Pellegrini at 614-645-2328. There is also an option for anonymous tips, which can be submitted to Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS (8477).
This call to action underscores the urgent nature of the situation, as these attacks created a palpable sense of unease in what's known to be a bustling, eclectic urban district. The Short North community, famed for its vibrant arts scene and spirited nightlife, has been confronted with an unsettling reminder of vulnerability on one of the festive season's busiest corridors. There is an unsettled tension, a pressing need for closure, as detectives continue to piece together this violent puzzle.
