The pursuit began when the suspect's vehicle, linked to a felony crime two days prior in Rohnert Park, aggressively attempted to evade law enforcement, per a social media post by the San Rafael Police Department.

The suspect, Casey Joseph Beck, a 36-year-old Antioch resident, led authorities on a dangerous chase, at one point driving southbound in the northbound lanes of US-101. Law enforcement had to act quickly to halt the evading of Beck and ensure the protection of the unassuming public traveling on the roadway.
As the chase unfolded, San Rafael Police prepared to assist the CHP, ultimately intervening when Beck, driving toward stopped traffic, threatened the lives of motorists. An SRPD officer used his vehicle to pin Beck against a wall, preventing what could have been a fatal collision with the public. The motorist whose life was directly threatened by Beck's actions credited the officer's swift response for their safety, noting the suspect "was headed straight for them when the SRPD officer intervened."
This operation, which resulted in Beck sustaining a minor leg injury and subsequently being taken into custody, showcased significant coordination between local law enforcement agencies.
