A tragic incident unfolded in Corte Madera when a 22-year-old male was found dead from a suspected opioid overdose. The Marin County Sheriff's Office shared details of the case in a social media post stating that last Saturday, authorities reported a call about an unconscious man in a vehicle on Sunnyside Ave. Upon arrival, the Central Marin Police Authority, accompanied by medics, pronounced the young man dead at the scene.
In the wake of the death, the Marin County Sheriff's Office's Specialized Investigations Unit (SIU) took the lead on the case. The SIU detectives, who have specialized training in overdose homicide investigations, arrested two suspects, 25-year-old Raul Beltran and 22-year-old Olivia Peters, both residents of Corte Madera. According to the Marin County Sheriff's Office, the suspects are charged with voluntary manslaughter and supplying a controlled substance, resulting in great bodily injury.
The SIU's investigation disclosed that there was probable cause to believe Beltran and Peters were connected to the victim's death. Consequently, both individuals were taken into custody and booked into Marin County Jail, with bail set at $100,000 each.
