The City of Dallas and the Dallas Mavericks are teaming up to cast a spotlight on the experiences of first-generation Americans through a new docuseries entitled "Huddle Series: First-Generation American Experiences." This series, according to a press release from the City of Dallas, celebrates the stories of eight individuals from the DFW area who have played influential roles in the community, including esteemed NBA Hall of Famer Dirk Nowitzki and Christina da Silva, Assistant Director of the City of Dallas Office of Equity and Inclusion.

Lindsey Wilson, Director of the City of Dallas Office of Equity and Inclusion, expressed excitement about the partnership with the Mavs. "We are pleased to partner with Dallas Mavs Take Action on this project, highlighting First Generation Americans that call Dallas home and having the opportunity to provide valuable resources to the community," she remarked, as per the City of Dallas. The sentiment echoes the city's ongoing efforts to integrate its immigrant community, which comprises a significant 23% of the Dallas population.

Notably, on December 6, 2024, a pivotal moment for 30 residents of Dallas from 19 different countries took place at City Hall – a Naturalization Ceremony performed in partnership with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). This symbolic event was a proud display of Dallas' mosaic of cultures with individuals taking their oath of U.S. citizenship.
