The City of Dallas is stepping up its commitment to equality with the 6th Annual Equity Indicators Symposium, timed to coincide with the city's commemoration of Martin Luther King Jr. Week. This event, a blend of local and national voices, will discuss the Equity Indicators Report, with a newly included section dedicated to Environmental Justice.
According to an announcement by the City of Dallas, Dr. Jalonne White-Newsome, currently serving as the Federal Chief Environmental Justice Officer, will be the keynote speaker at the symposium. The event promises to shed light on how equity in Dallas may be taking a new shape, particularly through the lens of how environmental factors intersect with issues of justice and equality.
The symposium, which will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Briscoe Carpenter Livestock Center, is slated for a day-long engagement. Positioned in the heart of Dallas, 3809 Grand Avenue becomes a stage for pivotal conversations among city leaders, including the Honorable Carolyn King Arnold, Council Member of District 4, and the Honorable Kathy Stewart, orchestrator for the Parks, Trails, and Environment Committee, among others.
