The community is remembering the life and service of Officer Kevin P. Marceau, a Dallas Police Department veteran. Monday marked the twelfth anniversary of Marceau's passing, who died due to complications from severe injuries he suffered in the line of duty years prior. According to a social media post by the Dallas Police Department, Officer Marceau was 47 at the time of his death on January 14, 2011.
Officer Marceau's end-of-watch came nearly 15 years after an off-duty incident where he witnessed a car crash. Displaying a commitment to service, he pursued a driver attempting to flee the scene on November 13, 1996. It was during this pursuit that Marceau was struck by another vehicle on Garland Road. The resulting injuries led to a coma and multiple surgeries over the years, culminating in his untimely death.
Kevin P. Marceau dedicated seven years of his life to the Dallas Police Department, serving with a dedication that extended even into his time off duty.
