
A fire late Thursday night in an Orange County apartment building left one person dead, officials said. The Orange County Fire Authority reported that the fire, which occurred on the 21000 block of Camelia in Lake Forest, was reported shortly after 11 p.m. with multiple 911 calls bringing in the report, as per KTLA.
Upon arrival, firefighters from Engine 19 encountered flames bursting through windows and the roof, posing a threat to adjacent units. Despite these intense conditions, the crew launched an offensive attack against the fire while simultaneously searching for residents. A second alarm was requested to bring in more resources, according to a KTLA report.
In a tragic turn of events, the Fire Authority stated, "Sadly, a search revealed one deceased occupant inside," KTLA stated The identity of the victim has not been disclosed, pending further investigation. Firefighters succeeded in containing the fire, preventing it from spreading to other parts of the building.
Investigative teams were promptly dispatched to the scene to ascertain the cause of the fire.
