
A tragic accident on the last day of the year took the life of a Dearborn man after he lost control over his electric bicycle and struck a utility pole. According to ClickOnDetroit, the incident occurred around 11 a.m. at the intersection of Schaefer Road and Colson Street on New Year's Eve. The victim, a 40-year-old resident, was reportedly not wearing a helmet or any protective gear at the time of the crash.
Emergency services responded promptly to the scene, where they found the individual in critical condition. Despite attempts to resuscitate him, he was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. WXYZ reported that CPR was administered before the man was transported to the hospital, however, his injuries were too severe to survive. Details regarding the immediate cause of the accident have not been disclosed as the situation remains under investigation.
The Dearborn Police Department is actively looking into the cause of the deadly crash. While the name of the deceased has not been released pending notification of next of kin, authorities are collaborating with the Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office to ascertain the precise cause of death.
