
A former Sumner High School basketball coach, Jacob Jackson, has been found guilty by a jury on all 19 sex crime charges against him related to accusations of sexual abuse of his players. The decision came from the jury after a day of deliberation in a courtroom, as reported by KING5.
The verdict has been met with emotional responses from the victims, one of whom expressed a deep sense of relief following the outcome - “it just feels like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders,...feels like I can start to take one step at a time forward and start moving on with my life...and I know that I will always have a foundation at Sumner to come back to…I'm always going to have family and friends and support from every single person..I mean the support I got even today from people I don't even know it really makes me feel confident and good my life moving forward," the victim shared in an interview detailed by FOX13 Seattle.
Jackson’s sentencing is set for March 20. At this point, he will face the legal repercussions of the jury’s unanimous finding that he was indeed the perpetrator of sexual crimes against players who were as young as 14.
