The Elections building is situated just a short distance from the long-standing office, at 125 Stephanie Place in Castle Rock.

For residents who are accustomed to conveniently dropping by the downtown Recording Office, this temporary change might slightly disrupt routines. Nonetheless, it's an interim solution as the county seeks to provide better service. The office is currently undergoing significant upgrades aimed at creating a more efficient space for staff and the public. According to Douglas County, Clerk and Recorder Sheri Davis stated, "Our Recording team processed a record number of marriage licenses and new passport applications in 2024 in addition to the other critical government services it provides," as obtained by Douglas County.

Davis also expressed gratitude for the public's patience during the renovation, which is intended to maximize the current office's limited space and enhance service areas. This project is more than a facelift; it's about increasing the effectiveness of the service provided by the Recording Office to Douglas County's growing population.

For those needing to access services on specific dates, be aware that no passport or marriage license services will be available on January 13-14. However, you can still record documents on January 13th at 301 Wilcox Street and on January 14th at the temporary location.
