
Attorney General Kris Mayes announced the sentencing of Tomas Gamez-Robles, who was caught transporting narcotics in Pima County, Arizona. Gamez-Robles was sentenced to 3.5 years for Attempt to Transport a Narcotic Drug for Sale, 3.5 years for Illegally Conducting an Enterprise both class 3 felonies, and 2.5 years for Weapons Misconduct, a class 4 felony, with all sentences to run concurrently, according to a recent press release from the Attorney General's office.
Gamez-Robles' arrest came on March 5, 2024, when he was found with 1.429 pounds of fentanyl pills and about 0.128 pounds of methamphetamine. Alongside the narcotics, a firearm was also in his possession. In her official announcement, Attorney General Mayes emphasized the severity of the crimes stating, “Individuals who transport deadly drugs into our communities will be held accountable. My office will continue to use every tool at our disposal to combat the spread of dangerous drugs and protect Arizonans.”
The investigation, led by the Arizona Department of Public Safety, exposed the extent of Gamez-Robles' involvement in illegitimate operations which included racketeering, trafficking of fentanyl pills, methamphetamine, and heroin. Assistant Attorney General Sabrina Lochner prosecuted the case, resulting in Gamez-Robles' guilty plea and eventual sentencing.
Alongside the prison terms, Gamez-Robles is ordered to forfeit the firearm involved in his criminal activities and pay $4,500 to the State Anti-Racketeering Revolving Fund.
