A Durant man has copped to a federal gun charge, and now he's waiting on what the judge will dish out in terms of time. Henry Tyler Allen, a 34-year-old from Durant, Oklahoma, pleaded guilty to having a 9mm pistol after a previous conviction that would've kept him from legally packing heat, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma.

Allen got hemmed up after the local Durant Police Department and the feds with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, did some digging—they found out that back on September 24, 2024, he was holding onto a firearm that crossed state lines, the 9mm semi-automatic pistol, and seeing as he was previously convicted of a crime that locked him up for more than a year, he shouldn't have had it; this according to a release from the U.S. Attorney's Office.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Jason A. Robertson was the one taking Allen's guilty plea on board, and he's now given the green light for a presentence investigation report to be whipped up. The U.S. Attorney's Office noted that post-plea, Allen was put into the care of the United States Marshal Service, that means he's off the streets until they figure out his sentencing.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Kevin Gross, the man holding the reins on this case for Uncle Sam, no doubt made sure the courtroom knew the extent of Allen's violation of the law. The exact date for when the hammer will fall on Allen, i.e., his sentencing session, hasn't been set yet, so he's gotta play the waiting game alongside the marshals for now. As the case continues to unfold, more information is expected to be made available.
