The Durham Police Department is actively seeking the public's assistance in locating Chasaray Newman, age 40, who is currently wanted in relation to a fatal shooting that transpired on the evening of November 27, 2024. According to a social media post from Durham Police Department, Newman is allegedly connected to the murder of LaMarcus Alston, 45, a resident of Durham.
It was around 10:43 PM when officers received a call reporting a gunshot wound on the 1200 block of East Lawson Street. On arrival, there was an adult male victim found, later identified as Alston, who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the quick response from EMS, Alston was pronounced dead at the scene. After pronounced dead on the scene by EMS, the officers found the adult victim which has led to a murder charge against Newman.
The department is calling on anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Chasaray Newman to dial 911 immediately.
