In a separate but related note, the Long Beach Police Department's officers were praised for their work in another incident where two guns were safely recovered on the night of January 21. During a traffic stop at around 10:09 p.m., on the 3800 block of E 2nd Street, a suspect was arrested under the suspicion of driving under the influence, as per LBPD.
Further investigation led to the discovery and recovery of two firearms, as detailed by the LBPD. Details on the ongoing investigation remain limited, however, the initial response seems to have mitigated what could have been, a much graver situation.
