Yesterday evening, around 9:30 PM, law enforcement officers in East Boston apprehended a 19-year-old man on firearm-related charges and two 16-year-old juveniles on drug charges. The Boston Police Department reported that officers from District A-7 were patrolling Meridian and Harve Streets when they encountered a group of individuals whose actions elicited suspicion.

According to a statement from the police department, upon attempting to engage with the group, two individuals tried to avoid the officers, prompting a chase. Even though one suspect evaded momentarily, he was shortly apprehended by the officers who, after conducting a pat frisk, found no contraband on his person. The rest of the group was located near Central Square, where officers found an empty twelve-round magazine on one individual.

During their investigation, officers continued to search the suspects' fled path and stumbled upon a discarded firearm concealed within a satchel in a trash can. The weapon, identified as a Taurus GC2, contained five rounds in its magazine. Detectives confirmed that the magazine found earlier matched the firearm retrieved.

Luis Guerra-Perez, the 19-year-old from East Boston, was arrested with multiple charges including Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, alongside two charges related to the distribution of Class D substances. Guerra-Perez is expected to be arraigned in East Boston District Court.

The two juveniles involved faced possession charges in connection to the same case, slated for an appearance in Boston Juvenile Court. With the discovery of plastic bags of marijuana on their person, authorities charged them with Possession with Intent to Distribute Class D.
