A tragic shooting in Cleveland Heights has left a community in mourning and police seeking answers. The violence unfolded in the early hours of a quiet yesterday morning, where a 74-year-old woman was found deceased, and a teenage male was hospitalized.
As reported by FOX8, the incident occurred at a home in the 3500 block of Randolph Road. Upon arrival just after 3 a.m., police discovered Edith Moore, 74, with a fatal gunshot wound to the head. An 18-year-old male was also found at the scene, having sustained a gunshot wound to the leg, and was swiftly transported to a local hospital.
The Cleveland Heights Police have not yet apprehended a suspect in connection to the shootings. In a statement obtained by Cleveland19, authorities emphasized the incident does not appear to be a random act of violence, though a motive remains undetermined. Detectives are actively investigating the case.
Those in her neighborhood remember Edith Moore as one who witnessed nearly three-quarters of a century, only to fall victim to "senseless gun violence," according to neighbor China Kelley in an interview with Cleveland19. "To die like this from a bullet of a young person -- of your kind, that’s awful," Kelley expressed. Moore was often seen enjoying her porch while watching her grandchildren play outside.
