
The City of Elgin is welcoming a seasoned professional to its leadership ranks, tapping the extensive expertise of Isaac Turner to guide the city as its new Interim City Manager. The Elgin City Council made the official appointment on January 7th, according to CBS Austin, bringing in Turner's rich background spanning four decades in city management across Texas and Florida. Elgin boasts a longstanding history since 1872 and currently experiences rapid demographic expansion within Central Texas, now counting over 12,000 residents.
Turner's professional journey includes his most recent stint as Interim City Manager of Leander, nurturing the governance of a community that is home to 92,000 individuals. His roles have often intersected with the needs of growing cities, optimizing strategic planning and economic development. In Hutto, he demonstrated leadership by spearheading master plans for essential services like water and wastewater systems, selecting a police chief, and, paving the way for significant local business initiatives — as reported by MSN.
Elgin's leadership expressed confidence in their new appointment. Mayor Theresa McShan lauded Turner's adept handling of communities irrespective of their scale, "Isaac’s experience with growing communities of all sizes, strategic planning, economic development initiatives, community wide visioning, technology, and infrastructure projects, makes him an excellent leader for our outstanding team at the City of Elgin as we navigate through 2025 and hire a permanent City Manager," she extolled in a statement captured by CBS Austin.
