The popular bakery first opened its doors in River City in 2006 and operated out of Deerlake Court near Tinseltown, Action News Jax reported. The closure has left local sweet tooth aficionados with one less destination for their dessert cravings.
Despite the shop's presence for nearly two decades in Jacksonville, CamiCakes' headquarters are situated in Atlanta and maintain three locations there, along with another outpost in McKinney, Texas. According to First Coast News, there was no announcement concerning the exact closing date for the Jacksonville shop; however, a quick glance at the storefront's Google listing now shows the status "Permanently closed."
Reflecting on the closure, CamiCakes acknowledged the profound imprint the Jacksonville community has had on their business. "[We] will always be thankful for what has been the foundation for CamiCakes," the company expressed in a public statement. Despite the shuttering of the Jacksonville location, the bakery teased its audience with hints of an upcoming endeavor. "[Stay] tuned for the next chapter in the CamiCakes journey," the statement continued, pledging to keep on "creating happiness one cupcake at a time," as conveyed by News4Jax.
