A serious vehicle-versus-pedestrian collision has drawn the attention of Suisun City locals and law enforcement. According to a social media post from the Suisun City Police Department, the incident occurred yesterday around 4:00 p.m. at the crossroads of Sunset Ave and Merganser Ave. The pedestrian involved was struck by a delivery vehicle, which then left the scene heading south on Sunset Ave.
The police were alerted to the crash as the emergency services rushed to the victim's aid and transported to a local hospital with significant injuries. Fortunately, the victim is now reported to be in stable condition. Witnesses provided descriptions that helped rapidly identify a suspect vehicle involved in the hit-and-run.
Responding to the gravity of the situation, the Solano Major Accident Response Team (SMART), a collective of officers from several local agencies, including Suisun City, Benicia, Dixon, and the Solano County Sheriff's Office, joined forces with the Suisun City Police Department to further the investigation. Their joint efforts led to the arrest of a 46-year-old male from Fairfield. He has since been charged with Felony hit-and-run and is currently detained at the Solano County Jail.
Investigations are still ongoing, and the Suisun City Police Department is asking anyone with pertinent information about the collision to contact them. Individuals who can shed light on the incident are encouraged to call (707) 421-7373.
