A male passenger in the Toyota succumbed to his injuries following the collision, while the driver, Wuyu Zhu, 55, of Oxnard, was taken to Ventura County Medical Center in critical but stable condition. The driver of the Nissan, 19-year-old Angel Zamudio, also a resident of Oxnard, suffered minor injuries and received treatment at a local hospital.

"Preliminary investigation indicates that the Nissan, driven by Zamudio, was traveling northbound on Victoria Avenue and broadsided the Toyota Sienna as it was crossing the intersection," disclosed the press statement. Following the accident, Police arrested Zamudio for suspected alcohol impairment and subsequently booked him into Ventura County Jail on charges related to driving under the influence.
