A Fayetteville neighborhood became the scene of a homicide after a young man was fatally shot yesterday afternoon. The Fayetteville Police Department reported to the 2200 block of Stanton Street following calls about the incident, which took place just before 4 p.m., as CBS 17 notes.
Upon arrival, officers discovered 21-year-old Garrett Elliott, a Fayetteville resident with a gunshot wound. Elliott was quickly transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where, he was pronounced dead, according to ABC11. The neighborhood, located off Hope Mills Road, was marked by crime scene tape as law enforcement began their investigation surrounding the red pickup truck parked in front of the home.
Detectives are actively investigating the circumstances of the shooting and urge anyone with information to come forward.
