According to KHOU, the operation took place on Walters Road, near a residence already searched in connection to the incident.
Despite the severity of the situation in New Orleans, where fourteen individuals lost their lives and many others sustained injuries, the FBI has reassured the public that "there is no threat to public safety at this time in relation to that activity," as per a statement obtained by FOX 26 Houston. Shamsud-Din Jabbar, the perpetrator of the attack, was confirmed dead after a confrontation with officers on the scene.
Shamsud-Din Jabbar was identified as having recorded himself in the French Quarter on October 31, 2024, and was in New Orleans multiple times in the lead up to the attacks. His connection with the storage unit currently being searched has not been detailed by officials, but the link appears to be a critical piece of the ongoing investigation.
The attack has been classified as an act of terrorism by the FBI, after Jabbar posted videos declaring support for ISIS prior to the event. The timeline released by the FBI shows Jabbar's movements leading up to January 1, 2025, when he placed IEDs and subsequently used a rented truck to cause mayhem on Bourbon Street.
