Authorities have increased security around a property linked to the New Orleans attack. "FBI Houston and the Harris County Sheriff’s Office are continuing a court-authorized search of a location near the intersection of Hugh Road and Crescent Peak Drive." SWAT teams arrived on Wednesday, and at least nine people, including children, were escorted from a nearby house. A man surrendered to authorities, but no arrests had been made as of the latest updates, as reported by Houston Public Media.
The New Year's Day attack, which killed 15 and injured many, is being investigated as possibly linked to ISIS. Authorities believe the attacker, Jabbar, an Army veteran, was influenced by ISIS after reviewing his social media. He was shot and killed by police after the attack. The Federal Bureau of Investigation suspects he didn’t act alone and is asking for tips from the public. Counterterrorism units are involved, as there may be other suspects still at large, as stated by Houston Public Media.
