Tragedy struck a Washougal neighborhood yesterday evening as flames consumed a travel trailer, resulting in the death of a cat and two dogs. KOIN reports that the incident occurred just after 5:30 p.m., with East County Fire & Rescue responding swiftly to the site at 34909 SE 20th Street. Despite their efforts, they could not save the animals.
The blaze, which reportedly started in a shed storing the travel trailer, sadly led to the loss of beloved pets. KPTV notes that the crews managed to contain the fire to the involved structure and the trailer itself, preventing further damage or spread to adjacent properties.
In a further heartbreaking development, the KATU coverage reveals that at the time the fire broke out, people were inside the travel trailer. Fortunately, all human occupants escaped unharmed. "Authorities said they all made it safely out without being injured," as reported by KATU. The whereabouts of two other pets, a dog and a cat, remain unknown following the fire. The cause of the blaze is currently under investigation by the Clark County Fire Marshal's Office.
