A fire broke out at a condominium complex in the Clear Lake area at approximately 9:20 a.m. on Tuesday, leading to an emergency response by local fire departments. The incident occurred at 250 El Dorado Blvd., zip code 77598, according to a report by the city's fire department. While the fire caused an estimated $30,000 in damage, firefighters' efforts managed to save roughly $84,600 worth of property.
No injuries were reported as a result of the blaze. The fire was described as unintentional, originating from a plumber sweating pipes in a bathroom, which accidentally ignited the insulation inside the wall. The electrical system was also compromised, as workers noted sparking wires in the attic even after the power was shut off, prompting the firefighters to notify the power company.
Upon arrival at the scene, first responders observed light smoke emanating from the roof of the 2-story building. The fire was quickly extinguished, but residual electrical dangers were addressed by shutting off the building's power. The site saw a sizeable response from the fire department, with 42 personnel tackling the incident, including teams from Stations 23, 70, 71, 52, 94, 93, and 72.
