An Amazon employee in Springdale is currently facing accusations of pilfering a sizeable trove of packages—a total of 44, to be exact—and then audaciously listing them for sale on Facebook Marketplace. As detailed in court documents, the alleged theft swiftly drew the attention of Amazon's internal loss prevention team when packages on the employee's delivery route failed to reach their intended recipients.
The suspect, identified as Elghadi Kah, a 22-year-old residing in Florence, was caught on camera removing a cart brimming with parcels from the Springdale Amazon warehouse. An Amazon loss prevention specialist, in a statement obtained by Local12, said she "found surveillance video of Kah and another person leaving the Strategic Parkway location with a cart of packages on Sept. 29." The company's employee tracking software further implicated Kah by showing his path directly back to his home after the packages were taken.
Authorities have stated that the items Kah allegedly purloined were worth more than $3,200. This was deduced after an Amazon loss prevention specialist observed products listed for sale on Kah's Facebook page, which eerily mirrored those reported missing, a detail highlighted by WLWT. The incriminating Facebook page seemed to point to the suspect himself as it bore his name.
Kah was arrested on New Year's Eve following the internal probe. However, he was released on his recognizance, reflecting a practice to understandably allow certain defendants to remain free without a bond if they seem unlikely to flee. Kah's legal woes only begin after being charged with the crime on Tuesday. As reported by WCPO, he is accused of theft without consent for the stolen packages, cumulatively valued at $3,265.
