Galveston port saw major growth in 2023, with more than 380 cruise ships arriving in 2024, creating over 4,500 jobs and boosting revenue. Major cruise lines like Carnival, Royal Caribbean, and Norwegian are sending their biggest and newest ships from Galveston to popular destinations. The port's importance is set to increase further with Symphony of the Seas, one of the largest ships, scheduled to sail from Galveston in 2026, as reported by Click2Houston.
Galveston is boosting its cruise market with a new terminal opening in November for Norwegian and MSC Cruises, expected to create 925 jobs and generate $177.4 million in local revenue. Travelers are advised to book during wave season (January to March) for the best deals, use travel advisors for planning, and secure trip insurance. The Caribbean is the most popular cruise destination, followed by Alaska and the Mediterranean.
