The City of Garland is seeking dynamic artists and specialty vendors to join the Battle Grounds 7th Anniversary Celebration. The event is set to prominently feature break and street dancing battles, bringing vibrancy and energetic competition to the community. According to the City of Garland, each interested party is required to pay a site fee of $50 and needs to bring their tablecloths for the booths they'll set up.
For those looking to showcase their products and crafts, time is of the essence. Applications must be submitted on Jan. 5 before the stroke of midnight. The city has made it clear that selection will be representative of various categories, to ensure a vibrant and diverse market is presented to the event goers—a way, perhaps, to sufficiently cater to the broad tapestry of tastes that will converge at The Atrium come January 18.
Selected participants will be notified by Wednesday, January 8, and should plan accordingly to meet the event's logistical requirements. All vendors must have their booths ready for the public by 1 p.m. on the day of the event, positioning themselves to take part in an eclectic celebration from 2-8 p.m., as detailed on the City of Garland. Vendors also must mind the set-up and tear-down times, and be aware that no electrical service will be provided.
Those vendors confirmed will also have to comply with several restrictions set forth by the city. For example, selling or distributing items such as tobacco, alcohol, drugs, or any material deemed offensive is strictly prohibited. Furthermore, vendors must act as independent contractors, being wholly responsible for the smooth operation of their booths—including holding any necessary licenses and permits and managing their sales tax obligations. It is essential for vendors to keep their spaces clean and orderly, and to understand that failure to do so could lead to swift exclusion from future City of Garland events.
