In the wake of a string of package thefts that dampened the holiday spirit for several Garland residents, local police have successfully nabbed a "porch pirate" just days before Christmas. In tandem with the community and neighboring law enforcement, detectives homed in on 37-year-old William Lloyd Scott of Mesquite as the alleged perpetrator, as detailed by the Garland Police Department on social media.
Noted for their perseverance, the Garland detectives were able to swiftly secure warrants for Scott's arrest on the grounds of Theft of Property with prior convictions, which inevitably led to his arrest by Rowlett Police officers. This collaboration showcased the efficacy of law enforcement's efforts to quickly apprehend suspects and to attempt to prevent further thefts.
According to the information shared by the Garland Police Department, the arrest was a direct result of the hard work put in by the detectives and invaluable information provided by the victims. Their statement further highlighted the communal effort stating, "A big shoutout to the victims for their assistance, to our detectives for their dedication, and to the Rowlett Police Department for helping apprehend this thief. Together, we’re keeping our community safe!"
