As the Georgia State Capitol gears up for the start of the 2025 Legislative Session today, preparations are reported to be complete. In a recent update, State Senator Frank Ginn highlighted the readiness for the upcoming assembly, expressing his appreciation for the opportunity to serve and noting recent enhancements to the Capitol building, including its gleaming real gold dome. Ginn shared an interesting tidbit about the dome, saying, "It weighs just under 40 ounces and was last replaced about 50 years ago," during his unofficial pre-session trivia, according to Senate Press reports.
Addressing legislative priorities, Ginn specified that the budget will be a central focus, as usual. Echoing a busy yet meaningful time ahead, he mentioned upcoming movements on issues such as school safety, tort reform, and open records. In an interesting mix, four new Senate members are set to join, and Ginn seems poised to observe the diversity of insights they're set to offer. "And while this is one of the busiest parts of the legislative process, it is easily one of the most meaningful," Ginn mentioned the arrival of the newcomers and his committee participation in a statement obtained by Senate Press.
Ginn, representing Georgia’s 47th Senate District, also hinted at multiple statewide office races shaping up, capable of drawing interest around Capitol Hill. Yet, he reassured his constituents of his unwavering dedication to serving their needs during these potentially distracting times.
Always looking to involve the youth, Ginn extended an invite to students between 12 and 18 to serve as a Senate Page. Describing it as a "highly informative program," it allows students to dip their toes into the legislative process. Interested students can apply to the program, aimed at providing them a day's experience at the State Capitol, by reaching out to Ginn's office. "Interested students may apply for the program by contacting me or my administrative assistant at my office via email," Ginn encouraged the participation of young minds according to the information released by Senate Press.
Concluding his pre-session remarks, Ginn welcomed any constituent to reach out to his office regarding legislative matters, emphasizing the significance of the upcoming session. The session is staged to be both eventful and constructive for Ginn and the people he serves as they step into another promising year.
