
A tragic hit-and-run incident resulting in a fatality occurred in Salem, where a man was allegedly struck by an intoxicated driver and dragged several blocks before being left in the roadway. The Salem Police Department arrested Sergio Aguilar, a Gervais resident, in connection with the incident, as reported by KOIN.
Authorities responded to the scene around 11:30 p.m. on Thursday after receiving reports, of an injured man in the 2000 block of Lancaster Drive Northeast. The victim was identified as 55-year-old Brian Devin Coulson, of Salem, who was pronounced dead at the scene despite paramedics' efforts to save him. It is alleged that Aguilar was traveling southbound on Lancaster Drive, when he struck Coulson near Beverly Avenue Northeast, according to information obtained by KPTV.
Aguilar is facing multiple charges including manslaughter and driving under the influence of intoxicants. The police investigation suggested that after hitting Coulson, Aguilar continued to drive with the victim on his vehicle for several blocks before the victim fell off, which was also detailed in a statement by Salem Police. The vehicle and Aguilar were later discovered near Cordon and Silverton Roads Northeast.
